Someone is sending me dumb messages and I would like to find out who it is. Their cell phone number shows up so is there a reverse look up program that actually works? Would be willing to purchase it if it has some kind of guarantee to work. Has anyone come across one?

It is SOMETIMES possible to use the Google search engine to discover owner information, address, etc. on cell phones. Simply type in the number in question like this:

"123 555 5555"

Include the quotation marks, and hit the Search button. Often this will pull up any public records or site registration "stamps" that Google may be able to spider.

Doing this may reveal further information, such as name, address, etc.

If that doesn’t work, then you will have to pay for an actual reverse lookup search from a reputable company.

Most provide 100% satisfaction guarantees or 60-day guarantees, etc.

If it’s a land line, the chances are that it’s listed in Google’s Phonebook search.

This can be accessed by heading to http://google.com and typing "phonebook: xxx-yyy-zzzz" where each of the xyz’s is a digit of the phone number you want to trace.

If the number’s a listed one, then you will find the owner’s name and address AND a map of where they live.

If it’s not listed, then you’ll have to use the likes of http://reversecellphonesearcher.com and http://trace-a-phone-number.com to get access to the information.

A single lookup is around $14 with these sites and is around $39 for unlimited access. Because they have a great refund policy, I wouldn’t worry one bit about not finding results and having to pay out, as they work on a "no hit no fee" policy.

Actually, the only way you can do reverse search for free is use Google or Yahoo or MSN.

Type in the cell number

"xxx-xxx-xxxx"

or

"(xxx) xxx xxxx"

You might be able to get the information you want.

Paid results are a bit of risk, but if the company offers a refund policy then you could try it.

But try Google, MSN and Yahoo first. If nothing works out the above is a good place to go to.

About the only way of finding out is to call it back – all that you’ll get from doing a reverse-lookup is the cell phone company and city that it is from.
